Headshot of Tara Etter

Title & Program: Program Supervisor Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) and Peer Support

Specialty Training: Sexual Assault Advocate

Hobbies: I live for reading. Whether that means diving into a banned book, anything written by J.R.R. Tolkien especially (The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings), controversial novels, true crime, and intersectional feminist literature. I also partake in writing poetry, creating obscure pieces of art, watching movies (horror, dramas, and period piece films), and expanding my love of music.

When did you join RMHC? Returned in April 2019

Why do you work at RMHC? I have chosen the mental health field because I have experienced – more often than not – having your voice not heard. I have known what despair and darkness is, and my hope is to continue to create an environment where voices can be lifted and heard in the rafters. I feel RMHC is that environment. We all have been able to come together, to educate and to learn from each other.

What should clients know about you? I believe in kindness and compassion. I believe in being empathetic and letting your vulnerability show. I believe in social justice and making social changes. Most of all I believe in acceptance and love.
